How to hack wii 4.2
HI, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR WII!!!
Direct Download link to Lego Indiana Jones Exploit - Indiana Pwns
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ylyjguzydry
(NOT MY VIDEO)
Required materials
* SD card (<= 2GB, not SDHC) formatted as FAT16 or FAT32. (The game, and therefore the exploit, can only read SD cards, not SDHC)
* SD card reader
* A LEGO Indiana Jones game that has been played at least once
* Some homebrew to load (e.g. the Homebrew Channel installer)
Step by step
1. Ensure your SD card is formatted as FAT. By default SD cards are formatted as FAT, so if you're not sure you can skip this step.
2. (Optional) If you have an existing Indiana save that you want to backup, do so before proceeding:
1. Put your SD card in your Wii and turn it on.
2. Go into Wii Options --> Data Management --> Save Data --> Wii
3. Find your Indiana save, click on it, click "Copy", and click Yes
4. Put your SD card in your computer, and copy the "private" folder from the card to a safe place.
3. Copy the "private" directory from the Indiana Pwns download to the root of your SD card.
4. Take your homebrew Wii executable (ELF file) and save it in the root directory of your SD card as "boot.elf".
5. Put your SD card in your Wii and turn it on.
6. Go into Wii Options --> Data Management --> Save Data --> Wii.
7. Find your Indiana save, click on it, click "Erase", and click Yes.
8. Open the SD card and select the "Indiana Pwns" save that corresponds to your game region. Note: Some people are having problems with the Wii not "seeing" the save file on the SD card. If you are experiencing this, try setting the archive bit for the data.bin file - in Windows this can be either be done from the file's properties dialog (right click on it in Windows Explorer and check the box) or from the command line using "attrib +a <path to data.bin>". More info at #wiihelp on Efnet.
9. Click copy and then yes. Now exit out of the menu.
10. Insert LEGO Indiana Jones disc and run the game.
11. Walk to the “art room” (find some walkthrough on the intertubes if you cannot find it), look at the second character.
If you dont have Lego Indiana Jones check out this:

Re: How to hack wii 4.2
I actually just made a updated tutorial earlier today... Ill copy it in a few minutes...
>>From my other thread<<
WOW I'm surprised this thread is still here but for anyone who is currently interested in homebrew... here is a new tutorial from xzxero of GBATemp. A few big notes before you get started... If you have a brand new Wii or a (Brand spanking New) Wii purchased from January until now your chances of having a console that lets you play disc backups are extremely slim. If you do have one of these units, you will need a external hard drive to play backups. Also, the parts in red is what you NEED to read and anything in green are my little notes from personal experience.

I consider this guide direct, forthright, frank, genuine, just, sincere, unconcealed, distinct, uncomplicated, palpable, blunt, & understandable.
Consider yourself lucky because you leven found this guide, it cant get any simpler than this.
I repeat these steps over & over when I'm uber faded, so I'm pretty sure everybody can accomplish this.
If you feel uncomfortable/scared to attempt this, then Wii hacking isn't for you.
This will work on any Wii.
Korean Wiis are modded differently.
required beforehand
- SD card [preferably non-sdhc] with around 700mb free [600mb for NAND backup, 100mb everything else]
- PC with internet connection & SD card reader.
- Wii [to mod]
This guide accomplishes the following:
1] Updates your wii to the latest firmware.
2] Installs the Homebrew Channel, Bootmii, & DVDX onto your wii.
3] Enables the trucha bug your Wii for homebrew to operate correctly.
4] Installs custom IOS 202 [USB 2.0 support], 222 & 223 [Hermes v4], 249 & 250 [Waninkoko v14, 15, or 16] to your wii.
5] Allows your Wii to play Wii backups through a backup loader, directly from the disc channel, &/or via usb.
6] Play Wiiware & Virtual Console games off the sd card menu.
Code Dumps [DSI errors] & Black Screens experienced throughout the guide, if any, are random & harmless for the most part.
Simply hold the power button for 4 seconds & try again.
I cannot stress this enough, people need to read this
one word at a time
The steps seem repetitive & similar at times, but they are not!
Guide is completely offline.
Update to 4.2
Follow this if your not on 4.2 yet, it will update all of your IOS's & System menu to the latest firmware.
Setting up the SD Card
1st download the precompiled link update.zip for your region by emailing simplisticmod@gmail.com
Extract the "update.zip" & put the files onto a SD card & insert the SD card into the Wii.
Installing The Homebrew Channel & Bootmii
(On Menu 4.1 and below)Run bannerbomb by going to the Settings, Data Management, Channels, SD Card & choosing yes to load boot.dol/elf
On Menu 4.2 Click on the SD card icon on the Wii menu to enter the SD Menu and Bannerbomb will ask to start
This runs the Hackmii Installer from which you should install the Homebrew Channel, DVDX [optional], & Bootmii as IOS & boot2 if possible.
Updating your Wii
Run WAD Manager 1.5 from The Homebrew Channel.
Scroll down the list to find & install:
*Really important stuff here! Do not skip or alter steps in any way!*
IOS70-64-v6687.wad
& System Menu-NUS-v481.wad [NTSC-J = v480; PAL = v482]
Then proceed to install the remaining 25 different IOS files & Shopping Channel-NUS-v18.wad by pressing + on each one then 1 to install them. [Apparantly IOS12 & IOS13 will not appear on the list, but they are above top one.]
*End.*
You can then erase everything from the update.zip & setup everything from the modify.zip
Advance to the Modify 4.2 section to reinstall The Homebrew Channel so it can run under the correct IOS's.
Modify 4.2
The actual hacking guide. Only will work for those on a 4.2 firmware.
Setting up the SD Card
1st download the precompiled link modify.zip by emailing simplisticmod@gmail.com
Extract the "modify.zip" & put the files onto a SD card & insert the SD card into the Wii.
Installing The Homebrew Channel & Bootmii
Run bannerbomb by going to the SD Card menu & choosing yes to load boot.dol/elf
This runs the Hackmii Installer from which you should install the Homebrew Channel, DVDX [optional], & Bootmii as IOS & boot2 if possible.
Making a NAND backup
Restart your Wii, if Bootmii was installed as boot2, then it will show up as soon as the Wii is turned on.
If Bootmii was only installed as an IOS, then it must be loaded by pressing home in the HBC & clicking Launch Bootmii.
Press the power button on the wii 3 times to get to the last option, then press the reset button.
[You can also navigate with a gc controller.]
Press reset to choose the first option, & then follow the directions on the screen to make your NAND backup.
[Bad blocks are no problem.]
Backup the Bootmii folder, NAND.bin, & keys.bin elsewhere & erase from the sd card. [or rename it.]
Head back to The Homebrew Channel.
Restoring the Trucha Bug
Run DOP-IOS MOD v10
Press A then press down to select "Install an IOS that accepts fakesigning"
Press A to downgrade IOS15.
Everytime it says "load IOS from SD" press A.
Press A to a patched IOS36.
Everytime it says "load IOS from SD" press A.
Press A to restore IOS15.
Everytime it says "load IOS from SD" press A.
Proceed to choose IOS36 back on the first menu.
Press A to start the stub removal process.
Press home to head back to the Homebrew Channel.
Installing cIOS & Patching the System Menu IOS
Run WAD Manager 1.5
Press + on whatever cIOS's you want installed.
I recommend the following for disc loading:
cIOS202[38+60]-v4.wad
cIOS222[38+37]-v4.wad
cIOS223[38]-v4.wad
cIOS249-v14.wad
cIOS250-v14.wad
IOS70-64-v6687[TB+ES_diV+NAND].wad
I recommend the following for USB loading:
cIOS202[38+60]-v4.wad
cIOS222[38+37]-v4.wad
cIOS223[38]-v4.wad
cIOS249-v15.wad or cIOS249-v16.wad
cIOS250-v15.wad or cIOS250-v16.wad
Install IOS70-64-v6687[TB+ES_diV+NAND].wad
Whatever you choose, press 1 to install the cIOS's.
Press home to exit.
>>MY NOTES<< After doing all of this if you would like to load your games directly from the disc channel I would advise to get the following
- CIOSCORP v3.6 (this has all the necessary files for Wii and Gamecube disc loading from the disc channel
- cIOS v16 (the newest cIOS file from Waninkoko)
-StartPatch 4.2.5 (Wii Menu hacks that come in handy for things like region free gaming and being able to copy your save files anywhere. StartPatch has NOTHING to do with game hacking/cheating. this program is ONLY used to add features to your Wii Menu
- ULoader (Get the newest version available. This is used to load "New Super Mario Bros Wii")
Enable System Menu Hacks
[optional; recommended if Bootmii is only installed as an IOS.]
Run Priiloader to install preloader onto your system.
Enable desired hacks & go into the settings & make to use the system menu IOS.
Latest offical Priiloader release is rev30
>>NOTE<< I do not have preloader installed on my system for multiple reasons but depending on your case you might want to, in order to protect yourself from bricks.
IF YOU HAVE BOOTMII INSTALLED AS BOOT 2 DO NOT INSTALL PRELOADER!!!
-Simply, if you are a boot 2 user Bootmii (as long as you do regular backups of your system) is more than enough to get the job done. Just use StartPatch 4.2.5 for your system menu codes.
If you were not able to install BootMii under Boot2 then go ahead and use Preloader. Keep in mind that the last version I used has the following issues
-blue light messages were blocked unless you actually had your system "ON" and not in "STANDBY" mode
- The disc will not stop spinning while in "STANDBY" mode you will have to turn your system "OFF"
If you want, go ahead and install the newest version. The above issues might be fixed. Just do yourself a favor and look out for these issues before making a decision to keep preloader on your system for a long term.
After Modding
Read here for instructions on how to use The Homebrew Channel & play backup games.
Now at this point your almost done. Now you should be downloading the latest homebrew applications & setting them up on your SD Card so they can be launched via the Homebrew Channel. Wiibrew.org is a website that has information on the latest apps.
For downloading applications, you should:
1] Download Homebrew Browser to get many popular apps & keep them up to date, but this is an online only application
2] For those without internet, check out this list of Homebrew applications & get the latest emulators, media players, & utilities.
After getting whatever apps you want, you should get a boot.dol file & possibly a icon.png & meta.xml.
This file is basically the executable that runs the program on your Wii.
This boot.dol goes in a custom named folder in the folder on the root of your SD Card.
For HBC to read your SD correctly, your card must be structured SD:apps/application name/boot.dol
Here is an example of the folder on my SD Card
In every folder, there is a boot.dol, icon.png, & meta.xml.
For playing your disc backups, you should either:
1] Download NeoGamma & set it up on your SD card.
2] Download Softchip & set it up on your SD card.
3] Download cIOSCorp 3.6 for playing games directly through the disc channel. [read the goddamn readme first!]
If you have a very new Wii & it fails to run DVD backups, you may have a drive with the new D3-2 chipset. They are incapable of reading dvd's of any sort. It can still play games via USB loaders though.
For playing your backups off a USB hard drive, check out the extra setup for USB loading to learn about the different USB loaders & how to set up your Hard Drive correctly to install games.
Please leave any thoughts/questions/concerns/comments/kudos/insults!!
Don't thank me, thank;

I wasnt trying to overshadow anyone. I just figure that since Darrien created, we should place all relevant info here. Also, I think the mods should sticky this thread so that all modding noobs can go here for basic info.

Re: How to hack wii 4.2
