In my oppinion it doesn't really look weird but its a weird combination of techniques and styles.(Not really sure how to say this)

If your talking about the second picture, thats not shading. At least it doesn't look like it. But if your talking about the first one then i completely disagree.

I'm sure gyoza can help. lol jk. But the pokemon look a little like you just copy pasta'd them and didn't bother to clean it up on photoshop or whatever you used.
The second one is plain. Not enough images and the background doesn't really fit it.
