Monster Hunter is a series in which you hunt monsters. You then skin those monsters and look around for items to gather. Then you can make better weapons and armor with those. When you get better weapons and armor, you can take down stronger monsters. When you take down stronger monsters you can get better weapons and armor. The process repeats itself over and over, yet it’s very addicting.

Graphics – A+ - What can I say? The best for PSP. Animations and textures are great.

Gameplay – A+ - You can put hundreds of hours into the game. But those hundreds of hours would not be there if the gameplay sucked. Luckily, the gameplay is amazing. The controls get tighter and looser depending on which weapon you have, which gives the sense that your choice affects your character outside of just the damage. The monsters have a non-stupid AI (*cough*ODST*cough*), but will get repetitive at times. But you won’t notice that in the heat of battle.

Controls – B – The character controls are well done, but the camera is not. You use the D-Pad to move the camera, and you NEED to keep your thumb on the analog at all times, so you end up playing in weird positions when trying to see in a specific angle.

Story – N/A – You enroll to keep the town of Pokke safe. You then start killing monsters.

In Monster Hunter, you can quest with your friends. What happens is in a place called the Gathering Hall, you pick a quest and a note goes up on a bulletin board. 3 people can then go up to the bulletin board, and select to join your party. You then start your quest. There is no lag while playing multiplayer, but small monsters are not synced, while large monsters are. This is because you don’t need help taking down an Ioprey.

Recommended? YESH!! YESS!! (if you don’t know this reference, then I pity you) You can get hundreds of hours out of this game, and it's portable so you can quest anywhere. It will get you ready for Monster Hunter Tri coming out in late April in North America, and April 06 in Europe.
Go buy this off the PSN store, it's $29.99 there (not sure in other currencies).

I will update the review later with reviews of all the weapon types.
