Wii 2 or New DS?

Alof big things announced and such.

Like nintendo saying that new HARDWARE has been announced for development.
My guess is ANOTHER DS lol

I think it is a new DS, considering we've been hearing rumours for the last month about it. daily fix was a month late in this cae when it came to new hardware plans

I say DS 2

i'd like new wii because i use it more than my dsi and it's only been like two years since the dsi but it's been 4 years since wii was released

I'd rather see a new Wii over a new DS. How would they improve on the DS? Maybe make it more powerful, but it seems fine for a handheld and has a pretty damn good library. The Wii, on the other hand, is using an old disc format, which is not a bad thing, but it'd be nice to see an upgrade. With a more powerful machine, maybe ports to the Wii wouldn't be so bad.

First off, Nintendo has confirmed that there will be no Wii 2. They also said a new handheld console was in the work.

I'm gonna say DS 2.

If you think about it, though, there are really only two types. The DS Lite and DSi XL are the same thing as the DS and DSi (respectively), but they look different.

So chances are, if we get another DS, Nintendo will make a sixth DS that's the same as the fifth.

Miyamoto when talking about his involvment with the new hardware talked about HD and the rising popularity of HD and said that it's something he'd want if he had an HDTV and that Nintendo would take advantage of new technolgy as it progresses or something close to those lines. Iwata has also said "If we were to make a new console, HD would naturally be one of those things we would add."

That being said I'm 100% positive it'll be a new console.

I predict a new DS will be announced at E3. Not a new Wii because it can still be alive for more years to come.

They JUST came out a with a new DS, and not just a new model like the Lite was. For them to announce a DS would be quite pointless. They may show a new color or asthetic design for the DSi, but not a "new" DS.
As for the Wii, people have stated multiple times that Japanese gamers have "shorter attention spans" with hardware than western gamers do meaning the life span for the Wii might not be the predicted 10 years like was said about the others. The Wii is the most popular console in Japan and they're a Japanese company. They're probably going to tend to that. And while I'm not complaining about the hardware, the Wii's lack of power to current gen consoles and/or similar power to last gen consoles is starting to age. The Wii's sales have halted, Sony has invaded Nintendo's neutral ground by basically giving people a Wii with graphics and supported online, the two things most people complain about the Wii. Not to mention, the way Nintendo has been talking, it actually sounds like a console. It all adds up. I think that we're not only going to see a new console, Wii rehash or not, but a new console with the things that Wii owners would appreciate the most. They're going to improve the graphics to either current or next gen levels (either one would be a huge upgrade would be enjoyable) and I think they may just give the level of online we all want. Not to mention HD capabilities which is obvious.
Anyway I would suspect a new console as early as fall/winter of 2011 and as late as the following 2012 year and season. But that's just me.

Of course there will be a wii 2, it most likely won't be called that but they're obviously gonna have to make a new home console sooner or later and i can't see them getting rid of motion controls either.
