WHAT THE F***?!
I just got a 60gig HDD as an early birthday present on Feb 28 to fix my 1 red ring, but yesterday (3/18/10) I was playing MW2 installed into my HDD and my Box-X kept going really slow. So I'm thinking, "Maybe turning it off will help." So I turn it off and turn it back on, to be greeted with 3 Red Rings! I turned it off and on for about 5min and kept getting them. 1 hour later and it was gone.
I heard that playing a game on your HDD sharply reduces your chances of getting The Rings, but I still got it. It's gone now, but I'm sure it'll be back... Is there any little reason as of how this may have happened that any of you know about?
EDIT:
I get it randomly so far, and when I do, it doen't go away for a few hours. The light on the power brick is green when I get it.
So far I've gotten it 4x in the past weekend.

And, sulley, trf, and all other people who like the 360, i'm not bashing it .

Some games aren't meant to be installed to your hard drive. Examples include Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Modern Warfare 2 may just be one of those games that runs better off the disc.MetaSmashBro wrote:I just got a 60gig HDD as an early birthday present on Feb 28 to fix my 1 red ring, but yesterday (3/18/10) I was playing MW2 installed into my HDD and my Box-X kept going really slow. Red Ring can also be brought on if you take poor care of your console, believe it or not. Yes, it's ultimately the hardware's fault, but if you're misusing your console then that will push the hardware closer to RROD. Similarly, you may just have a problem with your power supply. Next time it happens, check your power brick. If the bulb on the brick is green, then you have RROD, but if it's orange or red, you have a problem with your power supply.
I think what you say held true a few years ago, but RROD has been significantly reduced.KidZillah wrote:Kendo wrote:Well you must have bad luck then. I would say buy an Arcade.

Re: WHAT THE F***?!
- It's still MANY 360's out there that get RROD, and it's not rare .
You see how it's kinda shocking that YLOD hits?

Re: WHAT THE F***?!
I recommend making sure the power adapter doesn't dust in it and that you don't play for too long.
Re: WHAT THE F***?!
Well, if it's in an area with poor ventilation or in a heated area or something like that, it's more likely to fail.MetaSmashBro wrote:TRF, what do you mean by taking care of my Xbox? It just sits there...
Re: WHAT THE F***?!
That is true for all technology, even the PS3. -glares at you know who- Technology needs a cold environment with plenty of space for ventilation and oxygen(Kind a like fire). My PS3 could overheat the way I have it actually, so I should move it somewhere else.TheRighteousFascist wrote:Well, if it's in an area with poor ventilation or in a heated area or something like that, it's more likely to fail.MetaSmashBro wrote:TRF, what do you mean by taking care of my Xbox? Right. And in the 360's case it will cause RROD.FaytSaratome wrote:That is true for all technology, even the PS3. -glares at you know who- Technology needs a cold environment with plenty of space for ventilation and oxygen(Kind a like fire). In the PS3's case, it'll just melt the hard drive which is worst than the RROD.TheRighteousFascist wrote:Right. Re: WHAT THE F***?!
It's in the same spot it's been since '07. How could it randomly fail because of ventilation?

Re: WHAT THE F***?!
I'm not saying it did. I'm just saying there's a chance, but if you kept it in the same spot since 2007, then it's unlikely.MetaSmashBro wrote:It's in the same spot it's been since '07. How could it randomly fail because of ventilation?
