This could be successful or an utter failure. Eventhou its nice to see Sega maybe trying the console market once again, but its going to be up to the public to decide. Im more leaning towards 'sega isnt gonna release it', sega is smart enough not to compete with nintendo right now

i think that they wont release it. but may i remind you of the 32X they wernt that smart back then so maybe the console will get released and finally we will have some good sonic games.

Dreamcast no more in the past, now it's the SEGA Galaxy

if sega got back into the race with a powerful console, not only would it make me and some friends of my happy, it would make industry a LOT more interestin. but i goota say though, its WAY to late to jump in this gen...even if the system was more powerful than the 360 and ps3 combined, they won't be able to pull good support away from the 360/ps3 this late in the game...and i CERTAINLY know that they aren't ready to go head to head with nintendo and the wii right now. perhaps next gen after they prepared with some AAA 3rd party support, a special exclusive hook like motion controls are for the wii that no one can duplicate at the same level...not to mention better 1st party game development(looks at sonic) and line up. all in all, if they make a comeback next gen...they got a lotta work to do NOW.

Before anyone gets excited, this is basically an collection of older Sega Genesis games, so this is not an true console. I'm going to say this is a skip.

They have money from Bakugan, anime, sonic and non-sonic games and theme parks.

Member's of the XR said the Dreamcast was really awesome.So it will be cool if Sega make's another console.

And the Sega's Console "Zone" allows people to play 30 to 50 Genesis games already on the harddrive and allows people to play Genesis cartridges.

least we know Sega still has it in them, maybe this is the first step of rejoining the hardware business?, i can seriously see it in there eyes they want to come back lol

Sega will fail with their new console. They'll be caught in a Catch-22. Sega makes a console, but because there are little to no games on it, no one buys it. Developers refuse to put new games on it because they know that the console doesn't sell well, therefore they will make very little money by making games on the new console. There's also a problem with brand loyalty. In this economy, people will want to go with something reliable and that they know they will be happy with. Spending money on a new console versus a console that has built up a fanbase and a library of games is a no-brainer.

I think the best chance Sega had at selling a console was at the beginning of this gen. But they didn't do anything, and now I think it's too late for them. So they should just wait until next gen before marketing a new console.

That's true, although the article did say "Sega's new console in 2010". I doubt a new gen will start this year, so I'm doubting that they will wait until the next gen. Considering how powerful our consoles are today, this gen could last longer than any previous gen.

you got a point there facist,all the console's this gen is doing so well that sega have a high chance of failing sales wise

The console comes out this year. But SEGA will probably have one next year back on the Dreamcast road
