sure you did. i read somewhere that its 500 point for 3 months 1500 points for 9 months(or something like that) and 2000 for a year isnt too bad i guess if we had to pay.

Yeah, if it's $5 a month then it's a complete rip off. XBL is $5 a month for every game that's online, and if this is 1 game with $5 a month, then that's going too far! I can see them doing it in Japan though, as it's really popular there and thus the servers need to be funded a bit.

Paying for Xbox Live is a rip off. Pretty much the simliar services can be offered for free on the PS3 and PC. It can even be argued that the PC is even superior to Xbox Live.

Paying for a single game can be different though. Guild Wars and World of Warcraft are on par with each other for the most part. However, World of Warcraft has a superior community. Money works as a great filter against assholes. When people are paying $15 a month to play a game, people will see the value in maintaining a good community to work in.
