Internet Channel and Flash 9

I've been complaining a lot on why the Internet Channel only supports Flash 7 content. Well, I've heard that it's because the Wii can't handle any higher version of Flash. Is this true, if so, would anyone mind explaining?

i would like to know why they dont update it as well

I don't think that The Wii Internet channel can't support flash player 9. There can be an update some day. We just have to wait.

Nintendo currently believes that the browser is complete and even though Opera does the wii & ds browsers, its not up to them to update it. Its nintendo & makers of flash.

This really sucks for me, since the wii is my only means of browsing most of the time.

It's not that the Wii can't support it, it's that the version of Opera it uses can't. If Nintendo allowed Opera to update the browser it'll be able to support Flash 9 but Nintendo doesn't like to involve itself into online territory.

I still don't know why the Internet Channel costs $5. It used to be free up until June 2006, but I had it before then, so I don't need to worry about the price. I also don't know why they axed out MP3 playing in the Photo Channel 1.1 update and replaced it with AAC, but I don't need to worry about that either since I had my Wii from April 2007, and I can downgrade it anytime, but I want to keep up with the hardware/software updates.

The Wii was released in Nov. of '06...

yea i want to see ninty improve the online this will make the console much better overall and take care of the wiis flaws

How would it take care of flaws? That would be awesome though.

The flash doesn't bother me...Who needs really good flash player on a wii anyways? It's just for some quick internet browsing...not for playing complicated games.

They still need to update it.

We're on the right track, the Nintendo Wii now supports Flash Player 8.

btw i wish Nintendo would show off its great Internet browser the same way microsoft is showing off natal. if the showed that the internet browser was easy to use, more wii owners would connect to the internet browser.

they should show it off when they add more features, like copy and paste
