Sonic Debate: Speed, Plat-former, or Both

So there have been a lot (and I mean A LOT) of people who say SU's day time levels are a step in a right direction... Now, let me ask you this, what goes though people's minds? They're saying that Sonic should just be zooming though levels like the Genesis days, but guess what? Momentum was what made Sonic fast, this made the plat-forming easier. Sonic's basically Mario in a hedgehog form with the gimmick of moving fast. Now I'm going to post links to videos from Sonic the Hedgehog 1 to Sonic & Knuckles, and you vote on which one Sonic is.

One of the developers got fired for speaking his about Sonic and what SEGA is doing to the Sonic Franchise.
