What games do you think can make a good chance winning game of the year?

God of War 3
Mario Galaxy 2
Halo Reach
Heavy Rain
Metroid Prime the Other M

Zelda because it is released at the end of the year, and only games released at the end of the year get GotY

i know for a fact its gonna be a close GOTY Awards because of the MONSTER titles gonna release

GoW is an action game, it'll most likely win that genre. best adventure would go to somethin else like metroid other M.

...and IF it makes it, the new zelda.

if the new zelda comes out then it'll probably either get best adventure or music....or both

It is true though. By the time GotY judging comes, they will be bored of GoW, Heavy Rain, SMG2, Metroid: OM, but will still be playing games that come out October/November/December. There's never been a GotY that has came out Q1 or Q2, not for a very long time.

Yeah The Last Guardian is gonna be great, but for my vote, its gonna be Monster Hunter 3, Starcraft II or GT5

But bassicly what your saying is that no matter how good a game is between Jan to August its not gonna get game of the year?

BC2 has a not so great campaign, I don't see a halo game making game of the year, Mario Galaxy 2 most likely won't win if the first one didn't, God of War III is not the BEST out there, And as much as I would love to see Zelda win I don't think they would do that. Infact all nintendo games have LOW chance of winning just because I bet they are afraid to award them because of how much of the population hates the wii. But who knows, maybe this zelda will blow not only us wii players but ALL gamers and it wins. That would be GREAT. But, to be honest I think the game of the year 2010 will be something that's not even announced yet or something. No one really knows for sure what games are going to be great or not, so this is kind of a hard thing to predict. But, if I had to pick something i'd pick portal 2, because knowing the developers and knowing the success of the simple portal trial, I think it has great potential to be one of the best games of the year.

If there's a big name game that comes out in the end of the year, it has a bigger chance than a big name game that comes out at the beginning. If Uncharted 2 was released at the beginning of 2009, chance of it getting GotY would be smaller because people would be over it. It's possible to win being in the beginning of the year, but it has to be AMAZING. Like OoT amazing.

Are you saying that Grand Theft Auto IV was on the level of Ocarina of Time? Metal Gear Solid 4? I don't think either of those come close to Ocarina of Time, especially GTAIV.

We're talking averages here, not what IGN or GS or some other place gives it.
