For each platform this gen:

ModNation Racers for PS3

The Legend of Zelda Wii for Wii

Either Halo Reach or Mass Effect 2 for Xbox 360

Black Mesa Project for PC

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep for PSP

Either Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth or Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver for DS

As for my game for game of the year, it's either zelda Wii or ModNation Racers

But bassicly what your saying is that no matter how good a game is between Jan to August its not gonna get game of the year?

If there's a big name game that comes out in the end of the year, it has a bigger chance than a big name game that comes out at the beginning. If Uncharted 2 was released at the beginning of 2009, chance of it getting GotY would be smaller because people would be over it. It's possible to win being in the beginning of the year, but it has to be AMAZING. Like OoT amazing.
Are you saying that Grand Theft Auto IV was on the level of Ocarina of Time? Metal Gear Solid 4? I don't think either of those come close to Ocarina of Time, especially GTAIV.
